Christmas Trees Are Farm Grown
There are approximately 1200 Nova Scotian families
involved in the cultivation of Christmas trees.
We grow far more trees than we have people in Nova Scotia, so Christmas
trees are an incredible export business for the Province. Our
trees travel the world, going as far away as Japan, to as near as our
own families. You can find Nova Scotia Balsam fir across Canada,
throughout the United States, in Mexico, the Caribbean and South
America. Our tree is known for it's incredible fragrance, for many
the very "aroma of Christmas". Those who enjoy Balsam fir could
not imagine Christmas without that lovely scent that fills their home
and triggers those childhood memories of their first Christmas family
moments.

As you can see, we grow and
provide every size of tree. Most of our
lots are "cultivated natural stands", where the best trees are left to
be the
source of seeds for the next generation, making our stands active seed
orchards. Nova Scotia Christmas tree cultivation is possibly one
of the
best examples of sustainable development in the world. Tree lots go as
far back as the 1950's, and are still producing beautiful trees.
Soils are
enriched with companion plants, our lots provide shelter and home for
wildlife and food sources for
an abundance of animals, from deer to birds.
