Members of Council & D.N.R Staff Meeting

Members of the Council and D.N.R Staff met at the Council Offices in Hilden recently to discuss the work plan set out by D.N.R for their staff in support of the Christmas Tree Industry in Nova Scotia during the 2008/09 fiscal year.
The department organizes the meeting annually to ensure the industry has input to the activity undertaken by the department staff.
The Hon. David Morse (Left) Minister of Natural Resources presented a $200,000.00 grant to the Christmas Tree Council of Nova Scotia to be used in the "Smart" tree research project recently. The grant is part of an overall commitment of $250,000.00 of which the first $50,000.00 was presented in March 2007. James Delong a member of the Board of Directors and President of the Lunenburg County Christmas Tree Producers Association accepted the cheque on behalf of council President Wayne Priest who was unable to be present.

Thank You For The Christmas Tree
Dear Christmas Tree Council of Nova Scotia
I am writing today to sincerely thank you for our beautiful Christmas Tree. It was a wonderful surprise to me and our three teenage sons though it was very nice thing for you to do. My husband is currently serving in the Persian Gulf aboard the HMCS Charlottetown and will not be returning home until May 2008. Though we miss him very much, we are all busy and doing fine, it is much harder for him to be away. I though I would include a picture of our beautiful tree.
